When we secure an interview for you, your consultant will meet with you to guide you through the process, to increase your chances of being successful. However, we have put together a few hints for you below:-

• First impressions count. Presentation is vital, so you should ensure that you always wear business attire to an interview, irrespective of the position and organisation’s dress code.

• Prepare yourself fully for the position for which you are applying. Take copies of your CV and the job description with you, so that you can refer to them if required. You should do your best to read any company literature, or access their website beforehand, in order to gain a general overview of the organisation as a whole. The more prepared you are, the less nervous you will probably feel.

• Be on time. Check the correct address, how you intend to travel there and how long the journey will take before leaving. This will ensure that you do not arrive too early or too late – you should aim to arrive about 10 minutes before your interview time.

• Most interviewers will give you the opportunity to ask questions. They will be expecting you to have prepared these in advance and they should relate to aspects of the role, or general enquiries about the organisation. It is also a sensible idea to write your questions down beforehand, to jog your memory if necessary and in order to demonstrate that you have prepared for the interview.

• Finally, unless the interviewer does so, do not mention salary or benefits at a first interview.
